Who
we are
Roksolana Art School has been founded in 2003 in Richmond
Hill, Ontario. The art school has been growing and developing,
attracting an increasing number of students. The School's
faculty is made up of professional artists - highly qualified
teachers who have created a unique and inspiring atmosphere
at the school. The school's curriculum is built on classical
realism. At the same time, students try their talents in
a more contemporary style and genre of painting. Painting,
drawing, sculpture, mosaic, cartooning/animation and costume
design are just some of the great variety of programs offered
at the school. Students of Roksolana Art School are frequent
participants and winners at international art competitions
and exhibits.
Our vision
A common perception is that intensive art training is only
for the gifted and talented few, rather then as perhaps
an opportunity for learning that should be offered to all
children from the earliest grades. We do not assume that
only "talented" children can be taught to read,
write, and figure, yet some call ability in the arts "talent,"
not intelligence, and assume that very few children possess
this mysterious commodity. We believe that everyone can
learn how to draw – and feel truly proud of the results.
What we offer
At Roksolana Art School we created a comprehensive art
program designed to teach fundamental drawing and painting
skills using direct observation and imagination. Shading,
Composition, Shape, Proportion, Line, Perspective, 3D Form,
Color Theory and Tones will all be explored through different
drawing techniques and a variety of subjects. Our instructors
who are also professional artists introduce students to
many different mediums: pencil, oil and soft pastel, charcoal,
pen and ink, watercolour, acrylic, mixed media. This program
gives students essential art skills in order to help them
to express themselves, experiment and develop a personal
style.
Other benefits
The program shows students much more than how to paint
or draw a picture. It helps stimulate the creative part
of the child's mind, teach discipline, instill a sense of
pride, accomplishment, and self-worth. It also improves
academic achievement - enhancing test scores, attitudes,
social skills, critical and creative thinking.
